They advocated for prioritizing domestic matters over international aid, emphasizing a stance that drew opposition. Nevertheless, a bipartisan majority emerged, as 22 Republicans aligned with the majority of Democrats, resulting in a decisive 70-29 vote in favor of the aid package.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, working in tandem with Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, celebrated the passage of the bill as a testament to the steadfastness of American leadership.
"With this bill, the Senate declares that American leadership will not waver, will not falter, will not fail," Schumer asserted.
The news also prompted a reaction from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who expressed gratitude on social media. He stated, "For us in Ukraine, continued US assistance helps to save human lives from Russian terror. It means that life will continue in our cities and will triumph over war."
