Never Leave e-Footprints Behind In The Digital World : Stay Updated

There are many things available for free in today's web world. E.g. your email account, social media account or services related to information and entertainment. Sometimes out of necessity and often for no reason, we start more than one account in this online world and within a few years the number goes into dozens. Most of those accounts are forgotten and some are never used. But, have you ever thought how crowded this digital platform would be if everyone started doing this? According to a statistic in this context, 4.66 billion of the world's 7.83 billion people, i.e. about 59 percent of the world's total population, use the Internet daily for various purposes, and if each user created only ten accounts, what would be their number? Imagine the number of servers needed to do that and the energy needed to run them.

What will be the result of this recklessness?

Even if some of your accounts are no longer of any use to you, think what would happen if some of those accounts fall into the hands of hackers. Your personal confidential information including passwords, bank account information, your work documents etc. can fall into the hands of an unknown person. These accounts can be misused and your money can be damaged. But why should this time come? If you also have unnecessary e-mail accounts or other online accounts, it is wise to get rid of them

Need to delete?

You may not even remember which old email account your bank account was linked to. You may not even remember when your old demat account received notifications. Before the damage is done, take your time and download the necessary tools to get rid of that useless account.

With privacy and security becoming increasingly important in the online world, it is wise to completely eliminate digital footprints or online traces. Be sure to delete the account of the person who is no longer in this world.

The more accounts, the greater the cyber risks, i.e. privacy risks, security risks, identity theft risks, and financial fraud.

  • Hackers can take control of unused accounts for a long period of time.
  • Remembering passwords for multiple accounts also makes it difficult to maintain. Chances of missing some important information from useless accounts.

  • Payment based services fear credit card debit due to forgetting to add an account.

  • Keep sending millions of messages to accounts you don't use. They don't even know you're not using that account.

If you think about the number of services that come before your eyes, the list can be very long. E.g. E-mail, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Tinder, Pinterest, Snapchat, WhatsApp, YouTube, Spotify, StarMaker, accounts of online space storage or websites with free subscription sites (Canva, Kera), online gaming accounts and free software downloads.

Erasing digital footprints is not easy as there is no telling how much information about you will be around. However, it is still possible to delete your digital footprints from most places. E.g. via e-mail or social networking platforms.
