Moscow Embassy Employee Arrested For Spying | MEA Undergoing An Investigation

Following an in-depth inquiry and intelligence gathering, Satendra Siwal was summoned to the ATS Field Unit in Meerut for interrogation. Initially providing inadequate responses to inquiries, he later confessed to his participation in espionage.

As per the ATS, Satendra Siwal disclosed sensitive information to his ISI contacts and participated in activities detrimental to Indian interests.

As per the Ministry of External Affairs, Satendra Siwal, an Indian Embassy employee in Moscow, was apprehended on suspicion of spying for Pakistan's ISI. The MEA stated its collaboration with investigators. Siwal, a resident of Shahmahiuddinpur in Hapur, was arrested by the UP Police ATS in Lucknow.
“The MEA is aware of Satendra Siwal's arrest in Uttar Pradesh, posted as Security Assistant in the Embassy of India, Moscow. We continue to cooperate with investigative authorities,” read the MEA statement. ATS alleges Siwal shared sensitive data with ISI and engaged in anti-Indian activities. The ATS statement revealed intelligence indicating ISI luring MEA employees for crucial information on the Indian Army, posing a significant threat to India's security. After a comprehensive inquiry, Siwal was questioned at the ATS Field Unit in Meerut, where he initially provided unsatisfactory answers before confessing to espionage. Employed at the Indian Embassy in Moscow since 2021 as an India Based Security Assistant (IBSA), Siwal faces charges under the Official Secrets Act and for waging war against the nation, as per a formal complaint.
