In a media briefing on Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs declared that India has expressed concerns to the United States regarding a recent visit by an American ambassador to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK). Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for MEA, emphasized India's well-established position that the entire Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country.
Bagchi urged the international community to respect India's sovereignty and territorial integrity. These comments followed the six-day visit by US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome to the PoK region, a move that India has raised objections about with the US government.
MEA's Bagchi dismissed remarks made by US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, who defended Blome's visit by citing the envoy's previous participation in a delegation during the G20 summit in Jammu and Kashmir. Bagchi clarified that the two situations are not comparable.
During his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan, Blome engaged with various areas, meeting local representatives and government officials. India maintains its stance that PoK is an integral part of the India.
